- Wounded Knee was a Massacre
I'm writing this on my phone on the road so it will be brief. This is disgusting:
Defense secretary Pete Hegseth has announced that 20 US soldiers who took part in the 1890 massacre of hundreds of Lakota men, women and children at Wounded Knee will keep the Medals of Honor that were awarded to them.
I'm on the way home for my dad's 95th birthday. When he worked in reservation hospitals in the 50s, he had two patients who had survived Wounded Knee as children. One of them had scars on his buttocks from that horrible day.
Heroes don't shoot children who are running. Taking those medals away was the right thing to do, so of course Hegseth did the wrong thing.
