Trump truthed out an agreement with Putin to get 300,000 tons of diesel this month, 500K next month and a million thereafter. The US consumes about 500K metric tons per day, so it’s a drop in the bucket, plus how is it going to get here and what are the mechanics of it? Also, we export 180k tons of diesel per day, so why not do something about that?

Trump usually gets a big pass on his bullshit, but, nationwide, diesel averaged $3.50/gallon at the end of last year, and $6.19 a couple of days ago. Twenty cents less is meaningless, and unless and until Trump can knock a couple of bucks off of the price, he can just truth all over himself and it will do no good. $6/gallon diesel is an election loser, and the fact that he just now, around 3 weeks before the election, having his pal Vlad to throw a hail mary just shows how out of touch he is. Plus, it blows up the negotiations that his dimwit son-in-law is leading to end the war in Ukraine:
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has strongly criticized a US-Russian agreement to ease sanctions on Russian diesel exports, warning that the move would help finance Moscow's war against Ukraine.
"Allowing Russia to sell petroleum products is an investment in the war, which must be ended, not prolonged," Zelensky wrote on Telegram on Friday evening. He warned that Moscow would respond with further "terror and vile acts."
Zelensky reiterated Ukraine's willingness to halt attacks on Russian oil refineries if Moscow agreed to stop targeting Ukrainian energy facilities.
I know that some Democrats think that we shouldn’t say anything else about Putin because we “lost” the impeachment fight, but god damn, the guy is collaborating with an enemy. It’s bad! Say it’s bad!
Moving on, the truth-to-action pipeline seems to be losing its effectiveness in the physical world, but in the world of people who want to lick Trump’s boots, it’s humming along. This is the clown who runs Salesforce, genuflecting to Trump’s stupid re-naming of “Artificial Intelligence” to “Super Intelligence”:
Trump may be able to get his toadies and buttkissers to do what he wants, but in the world of physical things, his stupid war is still a massive unforced error. I have no idea whether the midterms are going to be the massacre that polls are predicting, but when more latinos have turned in early ballots at this point 2026 than then had at the same point in 2024 or 2022, there’s something big brewing. The double whammy of diesel prices and fascistic immigration enforcement have killed Trump’s popularity with latinos, plus it seems to have pissed them off enough to go to the polls in record numbers. This mix of motivated Democratic voters and de-motivated MAGA voters is going to leave a mark in the midterms. Just how deep and wide, who knows?
