This one hurts

I confess that the support for scumbag Andrew Cuomo by the powers that be in the Center Right of the Democratic Party makes me feel hopeless. The absolute gleeful RUSH to throw womens rights under the bus in pursuit of not offending Republicans or media is disgusting.

It doesn’t matter how many of our (alleged) principles we discard - they’re still going to attack us and we’re still going to have to compete and, yes, enter into fights with Republicans. Obeying in advance won’t stop the Right from attacking us and all our absolutely pathological conflict avoidance does it let bullies like Trump and Cuomo win.

I recognize that a lot of this is driven by the absolute hatred of their Left wing by the Center and Right majority of the Party, and also a healthy dose of anti Muslim bigotry (also endemic in the Party), but still - this one leaves a mark.

All I can think of is my experience over 40 years as a Democrat watching women do 80% of the grunt work in the party with no compensation or even recognition that we’re doing most of the work. This is how we’re rewarded - by being told we have to take yet another hit for Team Democrat. Then there’s the 13 women who stood up to one of the most powerful pols in the country at great personal risk and cost - we’re telling them they don’t matter either. No woman should report abuse. It’s not worth it.

I just don’t know if I’m up for working for free for these assholes anymore. It starts to feel like doing so is a sucker move and intolerable in terms of my own self respect.

Also? Al Franken is owed an apology. It was all bullshit. We didn’t mean a word of it.
