The World Moves On
The new world order is happening without us.
Politically, there’s really no other move for these countries after the UN Commission of Inquiry found that Israel is committing genocide in Gaza:
Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney had a summit earlier this week, and announced a new strategic partnership between the two countries. They’re also looking to expand shipping trade to avoid goods traveling through the US. Obligatory Claudia in the crowds picture below. You can send that to your representative if they cravenly supported the Kirk resolution and need an example of courage.

Chilpancingo, Guerrero, yesterday. That’s Claudia with the bullhorn, unarmored SUV, little obvious security, as per usual.
Meanwhile, the bumbling idiot Pete Hoekstra, our Ambassador to Canada, started whining about the mean treatment the US is getting there:
On Thursday, Hoekstra said at an event hosted by the Halifax Chamber of Commerce he's "disappointed that I came to Canada — a Canada that it is very, very difficult to find Canadians who are passionate about the American-Canadian relationship."
"You ran a campaign where it was anti-American, elbows up, me too. You know, that was an anti-American campaign. That has continued. That's disappointing," Hoekstra said.
[…]
Stephen Marche, a Canadian novelist and host of the Gloves Off podcast, told CBC's The House that Hoekstra "is the person you send to a country to alienate it. He is a person who obviously has no interest in maintaining really decent U.S.-Canadian relations."
"I think we need to steadily ignore him," Marche added […]
That whole CBC story is just Canadian after Canadian basically saying “fuck you” to America. Here’s a well-sourced, factual CBC piece showing that air and car travel from Canada to the US is down, that Canadian-US trade is down, that Canadian trade to Europe is up.
Trumpers treate negotiations as extortion, aimed at parties who have no other choices. They also can’t make a deal that lasts. So, the world just moves forward without us. There’s pain involved for other countries, but they view it as an investment in their future. Who knows what the world order will be like in four years, but it’s a certainty that our place in it will be greatly diminished.
