I know this isn’t the most important thing going on today, but JFC the press has a real problem not regurgitating regime propaganda as if it were gospel:
That’s Reuters. AP has this, which is quite a bit better:
I guess “without offering substatiation” is AP stylebook for “telling a fucking lie.” You can click on the headlines above to read the stories, but the gist of it is that Trump pushed out a long rant about his pet project on his social media site yesterday, and the MAGA line is now that it was “vandalized”. And they’re not blaming this guy:

Actual picture of Trump’s pool guy at a Mar-a-Lago party. His name is John J. Cafaro, “who has previously entered guilty pleas in unrelated federal bribery and campaign finance cases.”
I guess Keir Starmer making the one smart political move of his entire career is probably going to give us a respite from the reflecting pool story, but a functioning opposition party would be calling it “Pool-ghazi”. I’d also like to hear the stories of (at least) five poor people who were arrested for the “vandalism” of just picking up pieces of the floating crap that had been painted on the bottom of the pool.
Here’s an honest sentence describing what happened: Trump is taking time from surrendering to Iran to accuse “vandals” of wrecking the reflecting pool that his corrupt Gomez-Addams-doppelganger buddy fucked up after getting a no-bid contract. We’re at the “point and laugh at the dictator” part of the Trump saga. Good reporters would be having fun with this story. Instead, they’re running everything through what Mark Jacobs would call the obfuscation desk, when they’re not repeating Trump press releases word-for-word.
