The Shoes Define the Man

Ok. this is… insane?

It would be funny and a complete goof on the people receiving these “gifts” if it didn’t have such serious ramifications and connotations. You see, in many instances, the shoes that Trump gifts to his cabinet members don’t fit properly - check out this picture of Marco Rubio from the esteemed Derek Guy, THE final word on menswear (a picture is worth a thousand words!).

The real-life issue? The cabinet members are afraid to tell Trump they don’t fit, so they just wear them.

Trump is obsessed with buying his aides shoes, and they’re too worried about igniting his wrath to take them off.

In corporate org speak, the President is the CEO, but these Cabinet Members are the rest of the C-Suite - these are the people who have been appointed becasue they supposedly have the expertise, knowledge and heft to run their respective departments, and thus the country. Yet they are literally afraid to tell their boss something as trivial as the gift he gave them doesn’t fit properly. Instead, they slavishly suffer so as not to upset the King.

I’ve talked in the past about using ridicule, derision and humor to respond to Trump 2.0 madness. This is a perfect example and opportunity. While obviously not earth shattering from a policy perspective, this is the type of thing that non-political people understand. Having to deal with a boss who is unhinged, demented and to whom you are afraid to tell the truth. Having to work in a dysfunctional environment. Having to knowingly do/say things you don’t agree with - or believe in - solely to keep your job.

There’s an effective humorous yet serious media message/campaign ad somewhere in here.

And yeah - it’s not a cult.
