The Ones You'd Most Expect

Nazis are racists?

Politico got their hands on a bunch of text messages between some white supremacist “young” Republicans, and it sounds like the transcript of a Klan meeting:

NEW YORK — Leaders of Young Republican groups throughout the country worried what would happen if their Telegram chat ever got leaked, but they kept typing anyway.

They referred to Black people as monkeys and “the watermelon people” and mused about putting their political opponents in gas chambers. They talked about raping their enemies and driving them to suicide and lauded Republicans who they believed support slavery.

William Hendrix, the Kansas Young Republicans’ vice chair, used the words “n--ga” and “n--guh,” variations of a racial slur, more than a dozen times in the chat. Bobby Walker, the vice chair of the New York State Young Republicans at the time, referred to rape as “epic.” Peter Giunta, who at the time was chair of the same organization, wrote in a message sent in June that “everyone that votes no is going to the gas chamber.”

Giunta was referring to an upcoming vote on whether he should become chair of the Young Republican National Federation, the GOP’s 15,000-member political organization for Republicans between 18 and 40 years old.

“Im going to create some of the greatest physiological torture methods known to man. We only want true believers,” he continued.

Clicking on the pics in the BlueSky post below lets you view some of these “young” men, and I’m wondering if them being utterly unfuckable dweebs might have something to do with their many, many resentments:

Thousands of posts from a private Young Republican Telegram chat reveal a culture of casual racism/antisemitism, rape jokes and celebration of Hitler/Nazism. Some of the ringleaders are below: We live in a world where 4chan types now occupy positions of real power. www.politico.com/news/2025/10...

Anyway, perhaps this will be a moment to consider the asinine whining that dominates the right-wing discussion about the possibility that there could maybe still be just a tiny bit of racism in this country.

Also, on a perhaps unrelated topic, John Oliver’s Bari Weiss piece should not be missed:

Near the end he talks about the University of Austin and their “Chatham House Rule” which decrees that what’s said in the classroom should stay in the classroom. It’s basically a license for students to be as racist as they want.

Those dweebs on the group chat, and Bari Weiss, are the kind of mediocrities who get elevated in MAGA world. Their main traits/qualifications are an incredibly inflated sense of self importance and complete lack of principles. This piece gets to the heart of the matter:

On Monday, newly appointed Paramount CEO David Ellison announced that his company had acquired the Free Press, the smirking blood-and-soil blog founded and run by former New York Times hall monitor Bari Weiss. As part of the deal, Weiss will ascend to the role of editor-in-chief of CBS News, a Paramount property and one of the biggest news organizations in the country.

How could the Free Press—the total editorial output of which on a given day amounts to one or two reheated versions of "The Kids These Days Are Crazy," something like "Liberal Mayors Keep Lying About The 'Black Issue,'" and "How This IDF Wife Is Balancing Motherhood And Killing Child Terrorists"—be worth a reported $150 million, and why is its oafish founder about to oversee a huge press operation? Respectively: It isn't, and she shouldn't. […]
