With the exception of the police riot in LA, the No Kings protests were peaceful and well-attended yesterday. The pictures and video I saw showed determination, and also some people having fun. I’ve been to a few, and there’s some excitement and camaraderie. This picture from reader S captures the vibe:

Anyway, contrast the mostly fun spirit of No Kings with the dreary, unimaginative, tedious and lengthy birthday parade that Trump threw himself in DC. I didn’t see a lot of fun being had there.

This is just the Trumpian vibe: everything is bleak, the world has gone to shit, and a capricious asshole is bullying everyone. It’s the opposite of hallelujah. Perhaps someone should make something of that.
