Obama’s pure joy and hoarse voice at the rallies he’s headlining shows that he’s doing what he loves. I was wondering how he’d respond to the horseshit faux outrage about his Cheesecake Factory comments, and this is great:

Obama starts by ridiculing the notion that he doesn’t know what a Cheesecake Factory is: he says that, as the father of two girls, he spent plenty of time at Chucky Cheese, California Pizza Kitchen and the Cheesecake Factory. Of course he did, he was a basic suburban dad before he was President. Then he ridicules how butthurt the Trumpers were, singling out Bessent (worth half a billion dollars, as he points out) for doing this:

Using Bessent as the “everyman” to Obama’s supposed elitist diss of the Cheesecake Factory is the frosting on the out-of-touch cake.

But the thing I want to focus on is a little aside that Obama makes before he gets serious: he tells the media to pay attention, not to the Cheesecake Factory stuff, but to the fact that the Trump Administration chooses to focus on that rather than the disaster that they’ve made of the economy. Here’s how that turned out:

Obama also said that he looked good in the brown suit.

Obama has (and had) little respect for the preening, self-involved DC media, and they knew it. They want a Republican daddy and a pliant, subservient, scared Democrat to push around, and he didn’t fall into their preferred narrative. As we can see by the utter collapse of any pretense of the DC media doing journalism during the Trump era, plus the way they treated Biden, nothing has changed. If anything, it’s gotten worse. Democrats need to spend some of the billions they raise on solving that problem, and President AOC needs to take a page out of AMLO and Claudia’s book and hold daily mañaneras to flood the zone with her message.
