Taking Stock of the Shutdown
It's going to be a long one, I think
Had some family stuff yesterday so a late start.
At this point, I think we’re starting into the festering part of the shutdown. MAGA doesn’t really negotiate, so they have to shit talk and make ultimatums for a few days as the more sane of them try to figure out how things are playing.
One of the interesting parts of this, and something the insurance companies are probably doing on purpose, is premium notices going out. For once even the least adept messengers are on message:
Starting yesterday, notifications of higher premiums are being sent to 90,000 Minnesotans. I heard from a small business owner in Eagan whose premium will increase by *at least* $450 a month. That’s $5,400 a year. That’s why we’re fighting to extend the health care tax credit.

Also, there’s absolutely nothing wrong about picking targets of opportunity:
The government is in full shutdown and the Republicans are refusing to call the House back into session. Want to know why? Because we have secured the final vote on releasing the Epstein Files and they don’t want it out. Call GOP and tell them to swear in @adelitaforcongress.bsky.social.

Both sides seem to be dug in, and, frankly, Trump & Co are going to make all of the accommodations that they can to advance their agenda during the shutdown (ICE certainly isn’t staying home), so I think it’s going to be a long one.
