Starving Kids for Tax Cuts

WIC and SNAP are in danger

This CNN story ran in a SD TV station news show:

(CNN) – Millions of people who rely on food stamps and family aid through federal programs could be at risk of losing assistance during the government shutdown.

The funding was cut off on Sept. 30.

These crucial programs are now relying on reserve funds until the government passes a new spending plan.

Ashley Vasquez is the mother to Zavy, who is now 1 and a half years old and thriving. However, she said that was not always the case. […]

Zavy was put on special nutritional drinks that his family received through WIC, the federally funded program for women, children, and infants. The program provides aid to more than 6 million low-income families to help cover expenses for food, breastfeeding support and health education. That money, however, could soon be at risk if the government shutdown continues.

Even though MAGA doctrine would dictate that these kids need to pull themselves up by their bootstraps, there are still plenty of people who think starving kids in the richest country on earth isn’t a great idea.
