Another post about the reaction to Mamdani, sorry.

A thunderstorm knocked out power here, and the cellular internet from AT&T is, to use a technical term, caca, so this will just be a bunch of words typed by me, which I guess is what I do anyway. (A little fact about really rural areas -- all the major cell carriers use the same towers, which some third party put up. This means that everyone is technically "roaming," so they'll throttle the shit out of your hotspot.)

I realize that I've been banging on about this, and Kay has also said a few things about it, but I'm honestly surprised at the degree to which the Mamdani win has thrown institutional Democrats into a panic. Hakeem Jeffries' spokesman put out a statement yesterday to the effect that we're concentrating on the big ugly bill, but anyone who wants to primary Jeffries will have a fight on their hands, except it was nastier. I'm sure there are some shit talking progressives who are amped up about the Mamdani win want to primary everyone -- hell, I'm probably one of those after I get enough liquor on board -- but come on. Jeffries' seat is safe as houses.

What we're seeing here is weakness and fear, the same weakness and fear that we saw from establishment Dems after Trump won. Schumer and Jeffries haven't endorsed the fucking nominee of their party for mayor of their city, since their preferred sexual abuser lost. That's just unacceptable.

What kinds of chickenshits are these people? Where is their fight? Everyone who isn't in a piss-pants panic knows that a decent centrist candidate would probably have won. The most likely outcome is Mamdani winning the general and suffering a death from 1,000 cuts as the NYT, WSJ, and every machine Democrat shits on him like a flock of seagulls with diarrhea.

This internal panic and attempt to prop up Cuomo is gobbling up the tiny bit of fight these guys have, to our detriment.

Exhibit A: Elon Musk's Grok going full Nazi, or as Betty Cracker said, "Goebbels In, Goebbels Out." Musk's patsy at Shitter, Linda Yaccarino, took the fall for something that was clearly Elon's fault. Elon is a shitbird who is almost universally loathed. It would be great for Democrats to pile on Grok, since Elon's fortunes really fell when he made that Nazi salute. Instead, crickets.

Exhibit B: The death toll in Texas keeps climbing, and Trump's head of NOAA has said, "oppsie poopsie, I guess we need to hire back all the National Weather Service staff that DOGE fired for no good reason other than their use of science and reason." Another great political issue, and, again, deafening silence. Also, who's the head of FEMA, and why isn't his or her agency doing shit?

The reality that we have to face is that these people are in the most target rich political environment in the history of our country, and they've decided to engage in an internal squabble while firing all of their guns at one target: the Big Billionaire Blowjob. That's fine as far as it goes, but many of the effects of the BBB will not be felt immediately, and there are compelling, immediately interesting things happening every day.

My message to Jeffries, Schumer and the rest: Have your sulk and move on, it's getting old. Rank-and-file Dems may start to think that all you care about is keeping your job, not doing it. If that happens, then you'll really be in trouble.

One more thing: Rahm Emmanuel starting to put out feelers for 2028 is a combination of delusion, a political tin ear and an ego larger than most planets in the solar system. Shut up and go away.
