Smells Like Carnitas

Tacos coming out

I didn’t watch Trump’s press conference, but the markets seem to think he’s going to end the war pretty quickly. Most of what bombs can accomplish has been done, and we’re well into diminishing returns. Still, it wouldn’t be a Trump press conference without a bunch of lies, and this one really rankles:

[…] Trump was asked whether the US would accept responsibility for a strike that hit the school and killed scores of people, many of them children, after video evidence showed a US Tomahawk struck the naval base next to it.

In response, the president claimed the bombing had been carried out by Iranor “somebody else”.

“It’s something that I was told is under investigation, but Tomahawks are used by others,” Trump said. “As you know, numerous other nations have Tomahawks. They buy them from us.”

This is a screenshot from the video:

Tomahawks are launched from sea platforms and according to Wikipedia are only used by the US, British, Dutch and Australian navies. So, obviously, it was one of ours. Don’t piss on my shoes and tell me it’s raining.

Anyway, the sacred markets have spoken and, as usual, Trump will back down, probably not without breaking more shit.

Speaking of lies, I thought Kat Abughazaleh did a good job refuting the latest lies from AIPAC. That organization is clearly afraid that she’s going to win, so they’re running ads full of lies:

There’s a lot of easy cynicism about lying politicians, but MAGA is fueled by lies and deceit. Abughazaleh takes more than six minutes to refute a 30 second AIPAC attack, and she’s a far above average communicator. Successful Democrats will need to up their game to her high standard to win against MAGA, AIPAC and the rest of these liars.
