Reader S sent me this YouTube announcement by Kat Abughazaleh, who is running in IL-09, a D+19 seat currently held by 80-year-old Jan Schakowsky. The video is worth watching. Here’s her campaign site. This is her pledge:
I think we can all agree on these goals. And, I like these kinds of primary challengers who promise more transparency about their campaign — they challenge the status quo.
Speaking of capitulating to fascists, different reader S sent me a link to this DailyKos piece about an effort in Delaware backed by two sore losers (Elon Musk and Philip Shawe) to jam through changes to the state’s Chancery Court system. This is the system that denied Musk a $56 billion bonus, and upset Shawe when they carved up his company post-divorce. Here’s a summary of the bill from another source:
Opponents say the measure, Senate Bill 21, allows powerful investors to strike self-serving deals with companies at the expense of mom-and-pop investors.
But backers, including Gov. Matt Meyer and the Senate’s Democratic leadership, have called the bill a “course correction” for Delaware’s business courts whose rulings, they say, have given small shareholders too much latitude in recent years to challenge corporate deals, such as spin-offs or acquisitions.
Backers of the bill also say it is needed to pacify corporate executives who may threaten to cancel their companies’ Delaware registrations and set up legal homes in other states.
The bill requires 2/3 of the Senate to vote for it, so it’s going to be a tough push. One wrinkle here, according to the Kos piece, is that the biggest donor to new Gov. Meyer’s campaign was Philip Shawe. It’s Delaware after all, so I’ll reserve my shocked face for something actually surprising. I’ll note too that the Kos piece reports that a whopping 4 companies have left Delaware since Shawe called for them to ditch the state (out of 2 million registered there), so it’s not like there’s a crying need to change the law so Delaware can remain the home
Finally, reader Gloria DryGarden sent this Facebook post that pretty much sums up all the bullshit that right wingers believe in one place. I hadn’t heard of some of this nonsense, but I think it’s worth keeping an eye on the kind of crap that is floating around the Facebook cesspool. Also, mercifully, they just overused exclamation points and didn’t capitalize everything.

You saw the corruption, the lies, the bad policy, the anti American agenda and said nothing, so please spare us your crocodile tears and all your fake hysteria now. For 4 years you watched this country get run into the ground on all fronts and you said nothing!
