The big upset last night was DSA candidate Angie Nixon beating Alexander Vindman in the Democratic Senate primary in Florida. Vindman outspent Nixon, and she’ll face Sen Ashley Moody, who was appointed to fill out Marco Rubio’s term in the Senate. I guess my response to this one is: why the hell not? This seat is a tough one, but if it’s going to happen, this will be the year. Also, Alexander’s brother Eugene, who’s a US Rep from Virginia, had a confrontation with trans constituents over his vote for a Republican anti-trans messaging bill. Nixon might lose, but at least we’ll be spared the spectale of yet another Democrat throwing trans folks under the bus in a misguided attempt to court Republicans who will never vote for a Democrat anyway.
Ron DeSantis is term-limited, so former Republican and never Trumper David Jolly will be the Democrat facing Byron Donalds in the Florida gubernatorial race this Fall. Good luck to Jolly.
Sadly, Debbie Wasserman-Schultz won the primary in FL-20, the district where she decided to run after being redistricted out of her old seat. This is a majority black seat, but she won it after four black candidates split the vote. She ended up with a little over 45% of the vote, so she could have been beaten if everyone but the front-runner had dropped out, but that’s hard for politicans to do, since they all see a winner when they look in the mirror.
Jared Moskowitz won his primary so we’ll have to put up with his bullshit if he wins the general. Piece of shit Cory Mills lost — Trump backed him, so that’s good to see.
Overall, I’m at the point where I think Florida is far more of a lost cause than Texas, so my give-a-shitter isn’t let me give the races there much serious consideration.
It looks like the Democrat is going to win a special election for the Pennsylvania state house in Butler, PA (where Trump’s ear was shot) by 88 votes. LOL is my response to that.
Alaska and California, where Swalwell’s seat is up for grabs, also have primaries, but I’m writing this last night and I’m not staying up that late. I’m old!
