OMFG!
Someone save me from the crazy

I was about to add my postmortem on yesterday’s stunningly good election news based on my experience as a candidate and in campaigns - and I will in a bit - but I just encountered batshit insanity and it reminds me that we are not yet out of the woods.
I’m sitting in an airport waiting on a delayed flight (they’re trying to figure out if a tire is compromised on the plane I’m supposed to have boarded 30 minutes ago. My super uneducated gut tells me if you're trying to figure something like that out, just change the damn tire and get on with it).
So, I’m sitting next to some random guy in the waiting area, and he starts talking to me, even though I’ve got air pods in and I’m listening to music. I have no choice but to take my airpods out to hear what he is saying.
Dude proceeds to tell me he worked for Boeing for years and they’ve gone downhill due to DEI and that’s probably why the plane we are supposed to fly on hasn’t had proper maintenance.
Stupidly, I rose to the bait. I offered my view that perhaps it was the financialization of Boeing - their C-Suite and board maximizing profit at the expense of safety. He nodded and said he knows “insiders” there and its deifnitely DEI. I asked how DEI impacted maintenance. He wasn’t really sure. I asked if Boeing hired qualified maintenance people. He wasn’t really sure. One thing he was sure of was it was DEI.
As I was putting my air pods back in, he noticed the special pillow I was sitting on and asked what it was for. Dammit - I almost escaped. I told him I had recently had surgery for spinal cancer (no worries - I’m good and clean for now). He proceeded to ask me if I had taken ivermectin (no - I am NOT making this up) because he has multiple friends who had terminal cancer, went to Mexico for treatment from “The Doctor” and are completely cancer free now.
Then…
He started to talk about the elections yesterday. Before he got out more than two words, I told him I needed some food and booked out of there as quickly as possible.
They’re out there and we need to deal with them before this is all over.
What would all of you do/say if you were me in that situation?
