Now We're Exporting Measles

A measles outbreak in the state of Chihuahua is our latest gift to Mexico

It’s little-reported, but the West Texas measles epidemic was in part spread by a Mennonite colony there. The AP headline is typical of the way the US press puts on kid gloves whenever they talk about religious wackos: West Texans, Mennonites at center of measles outbreak choose medical freedom over vaccine mandates. I thought Ron Paul taught me that his freedom to swing his fist ended where my nose began, but I guess the freedom to infect me with diseases is all-encompassing.

Anyway, predictably, the Mennonites spread measles to colonies in the Mexican state of Chihuahua.

Mexican authorities have reported that the measles outbreak in West Texas, which began earlier this year, has now reached the northern state of Chihuahua. [...]

Most cases were detected in the Mennonite communities north of Cuauhtemoc, 270 miles south of El Paso, Texas. Authorities have confirmed 15 measles cases in a Mennonite community in western Chihuahua. A 16th case has been confirmed in the city of Namiquipa.

Here’s the location of the initial outbreak in Mexico if, like me, you had no idea where Chihuahua is.

Ciudad Cuauhtemoc is the pin. El Paso is across the river from Ciudad Juarez.

The authorities in Chihuahua, the largest state, by area, in Mexico, with a mainly rural population, think that the vaccination rate there is 75%, but most school-attending children are vaccinated.

Of course, in addition to giving the rest of us measles, the Mennonites have a problem with child sexual abuse, wherever they are. In Manitoba, Pennsylvania and in other areas where there are colonies.

When the liberal backlash hits the US, and I think it will, hard, because I know that many of you are as mad about this as I am, it will be time to crack down on child abuse and the denial of medical care in religious communities. If you are a resident of this country, and you want all the benefits that come with it, get your fucking shots and stop molesting your kids.
