Not the Greatest Day for MAGA

Pastor Mike learned a lesson today. One of the issues with trying to muscle your House caucus when you have to call Daddy Trump every time you need unity is that there are some things that Daddy doesn’t give much of a shit about. Prime example: the weird fixation on proxy voting in the House. So, even though Anna Paulina Luna is nuts, even a blind pig finds an ear of corn sometimes, as we say in the Dakotas. In this case, it’s letting new moms proxy vote. Luna feels so strongly about this that she broke with the Freedom Caucus, and got enough signatures for a discharge petition to bring a measure to allow for proxy voting to the House floor.

Since Pastor Mike can’t take any backtalk from the womenfolk, he bundled a rule that would not only block Luna’s proxy voting measure, but also put an end to discharge petitions for this session, into the rule that would allow for votes this week. Of course, it failed, miserably. He lost 9 Republicans (including Luna) on that vote. Johnson was so butthurt by this that he decided to adjourn the House for the week rather than put a modified rule on the floor. That will show nobody nothing, other than display Johnson’s weakness. Luna also quit the Freedom Caucus over this.

The Washington Post also breathed a little more life into Signalgate by reporting that Mike Waltz and others used personal Gmail accounts to conduct government business. I’m guessing a tin can and string will be the next revelation.

RFK Jr is going to testify before the Senate HHS committee next week, after he fired 10,000 people at HHS today. He’s going to look like shit, as usual, and hopefully the Dems on the committee will drill him on cutting people who work on cancer research, to pick one example.

Booker is still on the floor as I write this, apparently trying to beat Strom Thurmond’s filibuster record.

Every delay is bad for MAGA. Every time Democrats get attention is bad for MAGA. Every revelation of gross incompetence is bad for MAGA. So, not a good day for them.
