Not Catching Up

Media still doesn’t get it.

Just for fun, I saved a couple of screenshots from stories I thought showed how far we need to go before our media can recover from their utter failure. First, a Slatepitch:

Do I need to say anything about this, other than the fact that the Supreme Court fucked around for months and voted 6-3 for a decision that should have been a no-brainer 9-0?

The next one is a little more subtle, but still a problem:

The issue here is blindly repeating the DHS claim that the jet they’re buying is ever going to be used for deportations.

The background here is that Kristi Noem has a jet issue. It started when she was Governor of South Dakota and used the state plane for questionable travel. Then there’s the blankie incident, where she fired a pilot who neglected to grab her blanket when she changed planes. Those stories generally report without extra comment that the jet is one of the two Gulfstream G700 jets that were procured by the Coast Guard to cart Noem around at a cost of $200 million. Now she wants to buy a Boeing Business Jet, a Boeing 737-8 Max. Here’s a shot of the interior.

There’s a saying in South Dakota: don’t piss on my shoes and tell me it’s raining. This jet will never be used for deportations, unless “deportation” is a euphemism for Noem and Corey Lewandowski having sex.

The Noem jet story is from the Guardian, which is usually pretty good. So the moral of the story here is that even the better media outlets have a hard time not accepting at least some of the bullshit that the Trump Administration throws down.
