The New York Times and the GOP are on a crusade to defeat Zohran Mamdani, and so are Democrats on the Right side of the Democratic Party.
They started this with accusing him of anti Semitism, based solely on the fact that he is Muslim. Sadly, this blatant, disgusting Islamophobia isn’t an unusual tactic in the Democratic Party. Democrats on the Center and Right of the Party don’t want to admit they oppose liberal economic policy so anytime the Left side of the Party wins a primary they all pile on with bad faith accusations of racism or anti Semitism. It’s as regular as rain.
Being “socially liberal but economically Right leaning” is a perfectly acceptable and common political position - why don’t those on the Center and Right of the Party just admit that’s what they are instead of attacking the character of anyone to the Left of Michael Bloomberg? Just BE Center Right Democrats. It’s allowed. Don’t hide behind bad faith character attacks.
The accusations of racism and anti Semitism didn’t work (because they were obviously completely bad faith), so now they’re publicly admitting they must defeat Mamdani because Mamdani might not be deferential enough to rich people:
The race for mayor in New York City took an unusual and turbulent turn on Monday as some Democrats lined up to suggest ways to defeat Zohran Mamdani, the one candidate officially running on their party’s line.
Mr. Walden’s proposal was backed on Monday by Mr. Cuomo as well as former Gov. David A. Paterson, a Democrat who held a news conference to announce his support alongside the Republican billionaire John Catsimatidis and Sid Rosenberg, a radio host and supporter of President Trump.
Mr. Adams and Mr. Cuomo are also pursuing many of the same deep-pocketed donors. Both men spent the weekend in the Hamptons, the summer enclave of the city’s wealthy where Mr. Adams was raising money.
These comically corrupt clowns held a press conference with Trump donors and supporters where they talked exclusively about their own huge egos and desire for power - nothing, zero zilch - about how they would serve the vast majority of New Yorkers who don’t ride around in limousines. Then they took off for the Hamptons for the weekend to trade donations for influence.
And these political masterminds can’t figure out how the Democratic Socialist won. Is it because … you’re comically corrupt, wholly self-serving clowns?
I never again want to be scolded for not sufficiently cheerleading the Center and Right candidates of the Democratic Party. I don’t want to hear any more about “unity” and how the Left side of the Party must suck it up and support center and Right wing Dems like Cuomo and Adams. Center and Right wing Dems don’t reciprocate. They demand we support Right wing and Centrist Dems but they actively oppose Left wing Dems.
Their worst fear isn’t Republicans - it’s a Democrat to the Left of Michael Bloomberg.
