Some anti fascist political action from Greenland and Denmark:

❝

Ivan Hansen, a retired Danish police officer, loaded up his basket at the supermarket, carefully checking each product to avoid buying anything made in the United States. No more Coca-Cola, no more California Zinfandel wine or almonds.

The 67-year-old said it’s the only way he knows to protest U.S. President Donald Trump’s policies. He’s furious about Trump’s threat to seize the Danish territory of Greenland, but it’s not just that. There are also the threats to take control of the Panama Canal and Gaza. And Trump’s relationship with Elon Musk, who has far-right ties and made what many interpreted as a straight-armed Nazi salute.

On his recent shopping trip, Hansen returned home with dates from Iran. It shocked him to realize that he now perceives the United States as a greater threat than Iran.

“Trump really looks like a bully who tries in every way to intimidate, threaten others to get his way,” he told The Associated Press. “I will fight against that kind of thing.”

Yeah, me too, Ivan. Same.

I’ll be in Copenhagen for all of July to spend time with my granddaughter - should be interesting!

Having a foot firmly on each side of the Atlantic, I've been worried for most of the last decade that the rest of the free world wasn't taking the change in America represented by Trump's election nearly seriously enough. If nothing else, that definitely seems to've passed. Most of the NATO alliance has accepted that Truman's America is gone, and what's taken its place isn't a friend.

These countries will never trust us again. A couple of months of Trump will have killed our export trade for years.

It is so much easier to destroy and I don’t know how we recover from this. Why should any of our allies trust us again? We are ignorant and unstable.

We are going to be very dimished as a global power by the time this is over.

Yup. It takes a lifetime to build relationships and only a moment to destroy them.

On the one hand, never's a long time. On the other hand, I think it would take a Lincoln or FDR level realignment in politics to convince the rest of the free world that America can be trusted again (which is just about what it would take to unfuck it domestically). And even then, it's unlikely that the 1947-2025 standard, in which the U.S. damn near has a controlling interest in every other country's national security policy, will ever return. (Nor should it, frankly).

Right there with you Ivan. There was a funny thing that happened in Maine when Trump first started making threats against Greenland. A bunch of Mainers wanted to become part of Greenland and change our name to Majne.
