MAHA Measles
I think we all may have a least-favorite group of Trump voters. Mine is the MAHA people. It’s the combination of being insufferably smug while also wrong all the time. One of my younger sisters is one of them and while I do love her, I avoid her these days. She was so smart. I don’t know what happened.
RFK Jr is getting a little nervous about this measles outbreak. I suspect he fears that for the first time in his life he may be blamed for something. He will be blamed, and he should be. But right now he’s telling the Wall Street Journal not to worry, that he and his crackpot group of wealthy influencers are ON IT:
While Kennedy said the federal government had supported the Texas efforts to vaccinate people against measles, his new statement didn’t specifically recommend vaccines or underline their importance in preventing outbreaks, as other public health officials have.
“I would like to see Robert F. Kennedy Jr. stand up and forcefully say that the first child measles death in 22 years is a tragedy, especially because it was preventable and we need to make sure our children are vaccinated,” said Dr. Paul Offit, an infectious disease physician at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
Yeah, well, good luck with that Dr. Offit. No one in the “wellness space” ever admits an error, but at least there’s this, from the Democrats:
“We are here to simply say measles can kill, ignorance can kill, and vaccine denial definitely kills,” U.S. Rep. Lloyd Doggett said during the news conference, adding the need for people to be vaccinated against measles before spring break travels and massive SXSW festival begins.
