OMG! This guy.
Senator and plumber extraordinaire Markwayne Mullin is testifying before the Senate re: his nomination to succeed Kristi Noem as head of DHS.
When asked about his claim to have special agent training and how he knows what war smells like, he answered that he went on a classified mission/trip when he was a member of the US House, he replied:
MARKWAYNE MULLIN: That was an official trip that was classified
PETERS: Where was that trip?
MULLIN: I just said it's classified, sir
PETERS: So where did you 'smell war'?
MULLIN: I just said -- it's classified

Peters and Paul Push Mullin on Supposed Classified Travel
Ranking Member Gary Peters (D-MI) asked Mullin to come later this afternoon to a SCIF (a sensitive compartmented information facility) and explain to the senators who still have questions about apparent classified trips that Mullin has claimed to have taken. The tone of Peters’ and Sen. Rand Paul’s (R-KY) questions implied that they may not believe Mullin’s claims about the trips, a sentiment that lines up with TPM’s reporting on Mullin’s reputation of telling “fantastical” stories about his life.
Mullin said he did not have to disclose that information and that he did not have clearance to share it with the senators.
Peters then said he has reached out to the FBI and other agencies about any classified trips he may have taken and the agencies said nothing other than what was shared with the committee came up.
Chairman Paul backed Peters’ request.
Paul and Peters kept pushing for details about the supposed classified travel, Mullin said it had to do with an assignment he received while he was a member of the House and that at the time he was a part of the House Energy and Commerce Committee.
Paul and Peters questioned how the House could have classified a trip.
