Jasmine Crockett and the Haters
The reaction to her "Hot Wheels" comment just shows that both sides are against any young Democrat getting media attention

Remember this pic? It’s Trump making fun of a disabled reporter. And here’s a rundown of Trumpists calling people the r-word. Anyway, let’s remember that when we talk about the latest about Rep Jasmine Crockett, who called Texas Gov Greg Abbott “Hot Wheels” because of his spending $148 million on busing migrants to Democratic cities. Here’s her response:

I want to point this out, not because I think Crockett did anything wrong. Rather, I just wanted to use this incident as an example of what happens to any Democrat who opens their mouth and fights. Republicans will take any opportunity to capitalize on anything that Democrats say to make it into a media “thing”. They’re aided and abetted by people like this:
“She speaks for a lot of people who are upset and angry about the direction of the country,” said California Rep. Ro Khanna, another young and media-friendly Democrat. “But I think that what the party has to do is channel anger into aspiration about how we should behave, and treat people with respect and civility.”
One Democratic aide said of Crockett that “leadership sees her as talented and smart,” but “the gravitational pull of internet notoriety is too strong for some to withstand.”
First, I will bet you a shiny quarter that the unnamed aide works for Democratic leadership.
Second, the reason that the Khanna (D?-CA-Techbroland) is saying that has nothing whatsoever to do with her statement about Abbott. Instead, his tech backers are concerned about Crockett’s endorsement of the TeslaTakedown movement, specifically her statement that what she wanted for her birthday was for Tesla to be “taken down.” Of course, Pam Bondi immediately jumped on this and tried to accuse Crockett of supporting vandalism, when the majority of Tesla Takedown protests have been nonviolent (and extremely effective.)
This is what happens to young Democratic stars. When they engage in the mildest of protest during the joint session of Congress, their “leader” brings them into his office to reprimand them for their recent behavior. Their colleagues, and people who work for their colleagues, tsk-tsk about what they said. And Republicans threaten them with no pushback from the majority of their caucus.
If you want to know why most of the elected Democrats in Washington are silent, it’s because they don’t want to end up like Jasmine Crockett. One of the most effective, quoted, dynamic, courageous and charismatic Democrats of the last few years is rewarded for her courage with attacks from Democrats and Republicans. And the people who like to post Crockett’s great retorts on their socials often support the same Democrats who are working hard to undermine her.
This has to change, and primaries are the way. More on that to come.
