I saw this coming.

I knew the hawks in the Democratic Party would not allow extricating the US from the forever war(s) in Iran, Lebanon, Gaza, the West Bank and Syria because I have a better memory than that of a goldfish and I recall the Left side of the Party had to drag the Right side of the Party, kicking and screaming, into opposing the Iraq War.

Right leaning Democrats have rewritten the actual history and now they were “all” opposed to the disastrous Iraq war, but that’s not true. I was on the anti war side so I know we on the Left side of the Party had to battle both the Bush Administration and the war enthusiasts in our own Party. I listen closely to Jeffries and Schumers and just like the Democratic hawks who supported the Iraq War they object to the execution of the war in Iran, not the policy.

Someday, like the war in Iraq, “everyone “ will always have been against these wars too:

In addition to Moskowitz leading Democrats on the MENA subcommittee, pro-Israel Reps. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) and Wesley Bell (D-Mo.) were appointed to the Foreign Affairs Committee on Tuesday.

It is a perfectly legitimate question to ask the “blank check for Israel” Democrats if this blank check extends to continued funding of the US/Israeli war in Iran. We already know it includes Israel expanding the war in Gaza to include the West Bank, Lebanon and Syria, because we’re funding that right now.

No one in media will ask Moskowitz, Wasserman-Schultz or Bell if they plan on fighting to keep the US in Iran (as both the Israeli government and the Israeli public desire) even though that’s the perfectly logical next question after these three have supported every single Israeli/US action, ever, so I assume the anti war Left side of the Party will have to ask that question. And we will.

Because a blank check for the far Right government of Israel is opposed by 75% of Democrats, but a blank check for the US/Israeli war in Iran is opposed by 65% of Americans as a whole.

I haven’t always been on the popular side of issues on the Left side of the Party, but I’m on the popular side of this one - Americans , not just Democrats, have said loud and clear they are sick to death of the US bankrolling and fighting forever wars in the ME. The Right side of the Democratic Party continues to ignore that at their peril..

I want to be clear about something too. The United States has agency. The United States is supporting these wars in the middle east because there is a hugely powerful pro war faction on the Right side of the Democratic Party and the entire GOP. This isn’t Netanyahu’s fault - everyone knows he’s a genocidal psychopath. You don’t blame the psycho when the superpower blindly rubberstamps the psycho’s plans, you blame the superpower, who are supposed to know better. So, no, it’s not Israel’s fault. Its the fault of of a knee jerk pro war bloc of politicians on the Right in the United States in both the D and R Parties who never met a bomb they wouldn’t rush to buy with your money and who don’t really believe Iranians or Palestinians or Syrians or Lebanese are human beings with the same rights and value as all other human beings.
