As Tam noted yesterday in the comments, Mallory McMorrow dropped out of the Michigan Senate primary. Let’s examine the record of her advisor, Lis Smith:
Worked for Eliot Spitzer’s failed comeback campaign as NYC comptroller then had an affair with him.
Worked for a successful NY Senate Campaign for a candidate who joined the IDC, which was a tool for then-Governor Cuomo to block progressive legislation.
Advised Martin O’Malley’s failed 2016 Presidential campaign.
Senior Advisor for Pete Buttigieg’s failed 2020 Presidential campaign.
Led Cuomo’s effort to smear the women who accused him of sexual assault.
Led the 2024 DNC communications effort.
These are all either miserable failures or made a negative impact on the Democratic Party. She’s so obviously bad at her job that people opposing Talarico in Texas accused him of hiring her (he didn’t, a PAC that is supporting him has Smith on their payroll). Yet Smith will certainly be hired again by some other Democratic campaign.
This is the kind of messaging genius that ends up with social media posts like this:
The back story here, if you missed it, is that Trump interceded with FIFA to get a red card suspension of a key US Soccer player reversed. This has almost never happened in the history of the World Cup. And Jeffries is celebrating this corruption. (Note that I have no idea of Lis Smith is advising Jeffries, but some other idiot clearly is.)
Mitch McConnell is sick or dead right now, nobody knows which, after first responders were called to his home for a “cardiac arrest”. His wife, Elaine Chao, is at his bedside, visiting China to meet with the VP three days after her husband went to the hospital. Is the comms team of the Democratic Party saying anything? Not that I can find, and that’s because we’re not willing to do exactly what Republicans would do in the same situation: make some noise.
