I couldn’t protest because I’d promised to help a friend with her mom’s birthday party and could not bail in good conscience. But there were more than 100 people with signs in front of the courthouse in my little town (pop. 7500-ish) when I drove by, and in the next town over, similarly sized, there was also a crowd. This area is 75% Trump, so it was surprising and encouraging!

I'm guessing MM will post something on the Denver rally. We managed to meet up on the Capitol steps for about 5 minutes, then he and his wife went off on the march while I milled about waiting for my wife to arrive. Sent him my usual collection of signs.

While the march was happening, one of the organizers or speakers got on the PA to say they estimated attendance at around 5000. That's a bit more than the 5051 rally.

That rally was very heavily Hispanic, mostly Mexican whereas this one was about as white, and trending older, as you could get. More people under 40 arrived the longer I hung around but for the first 90 minutes or so, I looked around me and wondered how much accumulated 401K numbers going down the toilet was represented by the crowd around me.

I just got back from the Boston Hands Off. It was big. The Boston Common was crowd was much larger than I could have ever imagined. Ten of thousands of people. By the time I arrived people were already marching to Government Center (City Hall) to hear the speakers. I ;m not sure what the crowd size was but it was substantially more than the expected 25,000.

Government Center plaza in front of City Hall was packed and people were streaming in from Boston Common for almost an hour. (The Common and Government Center are less than a quarter mile apart). I saw Ukrainian flags, rainbow flags, American flags, and tens of thousands people from every imaginable demographic. It was inspiring. The most Boston protest sign I saw was, "Hey Trump, oligargle dees nutz". But what you saw quite a bit of were signs in support of Rumeysa Ozturk. She was kidnapped off the streets of Somerville which is less than 5 miles from City Hall. (Not so fun fact: Less than a mile and a half from my place).

We joined the protest in Key West today (where we were on vacation). Several hundred protesters lined the streets. I didn't notice any counterprotesters, if they were there they were very quiet. Lots of thru traffic, and about half of the drivers honked or gave other signs of support. It was so freeing to trash Trump, Musk, etc. with perfect strangers on the sidewalk.

I am struck by just how much of the MAGA movement is fueled by making sure that no one has any joy or fun

Our local group scheduled a protest for tomorrow before April 5 had been declared (and I guess got the necessary permitting), so we are all turning out in the community park tomorrow. I expect a good turnout and, in the event of rain, an alternate location has been set. Danger level here is very low and I hope to see many yutes from local college(s).

I just drove past a huge protest in Issaquah, WA. There must have been at least 150 people out there, with more gathering. Very happy to see it.

Pollyanna tells me they had about 200 protesters in Rome, GA.

Reports are about 2000 people in Cincinnati

There were at least several thousand people at the Augusta Maine. We filled all the lawns at the statehouse and there were also people lining the major roads and marching. I’ve heard the rally in Portland was massive.
