Gosh, Better Stick to Those Norms!

I guess the world would stop if we said the plain truth about the Minnesota assassin.

The senior senator from Utah:

That’s the Minnesota assassin, who wore a mask, was a big Trump supporter and railed against LGBTQ+ people. Steve M had a good post yesterday about how right wingers are being fed a line that this was Democrat-on-Democrat violence.

If any Democrat has tried to blame this on Trump, Trumpism or the climate of hate that is stirred up by right-wing media, I’ve missed it. If this is a battle for a “narrative”, we’ve already lost. If this is just plain old standing up to bullies, we’re not, even rhetorically.

I always thought it was laughable when people posted the “Chicago Way” scene from The Untouchables whenever a Democrat said something that’s slightly more feisty than usual. (It’s the scene where Sean Connery tells Ness that when one of Capone’s men sends one of Ness’ men to the hospital, Ness should send one of his to the morgue.)

Some of ours were sent to the hospital, and some were sent to the morgue, and it’s all “we must not condone political violence” without mention of which party stokes violence, and which party’s President pardoned violent criminals.
