Good essay on media's love affair with Kirk, and going along to get along

What are we to make of a man who called for the execution of the American president, and then was executed himself? What are we to make of an NFL that, on one hand, encourages us to “End Racism,” and, on the other, urges us to commemorate an unreconstructed white supremacist? And what of the writers, the thinkers, and the pundits who cannot separate the great crime of Kirk’s death from the malignancy of his public life? Can they truly be so ignorant to the words of a man they have so rushed to memorialize? I don’t know. But the most telling detail in Klein’s column was that, for all his praise, there was not a single word in the piece from Kirk himself.
Ta-Nehisi Coates used to be very popular in liberal circles until he insisted on telling the truth - that Democratic leaders were supporting a genocide in Gaza. The Democratic BASE doesn’t support the ongoing genocide - it polls at 8% in our base. But the Democratic political leaders do, because they’re cowards and a genocide is politically inconvenient for them.
Every single human rights group now defines Gaza as a genocide as do most genocide scholars, most of whom are Jewish. But Democrats denied it for two years so to admit it now is a bridge too far, hence Ta-Nehesi Coates losing most of his centrist liberal admirers for the unforgiveable sin of calling a genocide a genocide.
Not that he cares. He once said if he didn’t tell the truth he wouldn’t bother writing,
I wonder what drives Ezra Klein to pen this ridiculous drivel. It’s a lie. Why bother writing it down?
I think I know what drives reporters at the WSJ and NYTimes to lie about Kirk. I think he was a source. I think they get a LOT of their content from Right wing “influencers” and they all got to know and like Kirk. That’s why we see so much content that reads like it was written by the RNC.
Plus- they agree with him.
