In the wake of another painful, difficult outcome, the Democratic Party has completed its review of Charlie Brown’s most recent failed attempt to kick the football.
It’s no surprise to us, but the findings are straightforward. While Charlie Brown did once again accelerate toward the ball, miss the ball entirely as Lucy pulled it away, flip backward through the air, and land violently with a disquieting crunch that slipped no less than three discs in his still-developing spine, we do not believe that now is the time for a dramatic change in kicking strategy.
Two years of defeat, failure and fascism, and a group of establishment Democrats still think that there’s some kind of compromise to be had with Trump. Unbelievable.
Let’s face it — the bulk of the party is sitting around waiting for MAGA to lose, not wondering how we can win, nor what we can do to fix the mess we’re in. The clear path is to be an opposition party for two years, which means impeaching a couple bad eggs (Hegseth and RFK Jr would be my picks), passing a bunch of legislation that Trump will veto, and leveraging some concessions via budget showdowns. Instead, we’re going to get two years of tepid excuses.
We have quite a few primary challenges to go before the party is reformed, if it ever is. Until then, get ready to fight and be frustrated.
