Compare and Contrast

A real journalist and a toady

I know that you probably don’t like watching videos instead of reading text, but these two clips that are a little longer than a minute each are worth watching.

First, Kyle Clark, a Denver journalist, on the way that our ability to tell the truth about 1/6 is decaying in the face of an onslaught of bullshit:

COMMENTARY: It seems an increasing number of Americans, including elected leaders and journalists, are afraid to tell the truth about what happened on January 6. That's dangerous.

Second, the toady who is the new anchor at Bari Weiss’ CBS news kissing Marco Rubio’s ass:

Here's the clip of Tony Dokoupil ending tonight's broadcast by absolutely gushing over "ultimate Florida Man" Marco Rubio.

Since I watch a lot of national nightly news with my dad, I’m well aware of the point of a segment like this, which is to share a meme with the olds who aren’t social media savvy. But the obvious story here is that Rubio is supposedly doing a dozen jobs, which is stupid, and the memes that show him as the Michelin man are mocking the notion that he can do everything. This piece tries to make it look like those memes are praising Rubio for his hard work, which misinforms the audience in addition to kissing up to Rubio.

When DougJ and I first started blogging many years ago, we found that local politics were often better reported by local reporters than national politics was reported by national reporters. It’s just gotten worse.
