Claudia Got Mad
And showed what she believes
A video of President Claudia Sheinbaum lashing out at some Morena politicians who wanted a photo op with her went viral over the weekend:
La presidenta Claudia Sheinbaum regañó a diputados locales y federales de Baja California en su visita a San Quintín. "Deben trabajar más con la gente". 👇

A rough translation of what she said: “You need to work more with the people, all of you. Work more with the people. Stop being there and … [spend time] in your territory.” There was no photo op for the politicians. This kid got one, though:

From Claudia’s Instagram post on her trip to San Quintin.
Some Mexican friends called me a “Super Claudia” — a Claudia superfan (it’s a thing in Mexico, apparently). When I say I’ve never seen her lose her cool, I say that as someone who has watched hours of press conferences. She speaks in measured tones, is extremely patient with questioners, and she shakes hands and takes selfies without any sign of impatience.
In Monday’s press conference, when asked about this “warm scolding” (her words), she explained that San Quintin, which is south of Ensenada on the west side of Baja California, is full of migrant laborers with lots of issues, including lack of water in their residences, being paid by the box so they don’t make minimum wage, etc. She had a laundry list, and her list came from meeting with the people of San Quintin this weekend.
You have to believe in something in order to get this angry over it. Claudia clearly believes in the Morena slogan, “For the good of all, the poor first.” Her anger this weekend shows it.
There’s a lesson here for everyone watching politicians. See what they get mad about. Schumer and a lot of others got mad about a bunch of kids protesting against the genocide in Gaza, and they did something about it (trying to ban TikTok was one thing). They aren’t as mad about ICE. Jeffries either lied or doesn’t have control of his caucus when he told us there wouldn’t be any Democratic votes for the appropriation bill, even though 21 Dems voted for it, when 21 Republicans voted against. The last time there was any anger from Jeffries’ office, it was about the possibility that he’d face a primary challenge. That’s very much worth noting.
