Schumer endorses furthest Right candidate in Michigan Senate race aaaand….here come the smears attacking El-Sayed. The furthest Left anti war candidate. Apparently Right wing Democrats suddenly find the Trump DOJ credible and honorable, but only when the Trump DOJ are going after Lefty 19 year olds and Muslim candidates. Incoherent.

I’m sure you’ll all remember this same exact same sequence from the NYC Mayor’s race, where elderly Right wing Democrats smeared Mamdani in a sleazy, underhanded, Islamophobic way for 6 months.

The very successful Mayor Mamdani. Who is now much more popular in NY than Chuck Schumer. Funny old world, huh?

Key endorsement lands: Chuck Schumer has thrown his support behind Haley Stevens, saying she is the Democrat most likely to win Michigan’s Senate seat in November.

Polls show mixed picture: Stevens leads Rogers in some general election polls but trails progressive Abdul El-Sayed in recent primary surveys.

High-stakes battleground: Michigan’s open Senate seat is critical to Democrats’ hopes of flipping the chamber, with the primary set for August 4.

A major point of contention among Democratic candidates across the country concerns whether they have previously accepted money from corporations.

El-Sayed and McMorrow have both pledged not to accept corporate PAC money.

"I'm the only candidate in my race who's never taken a dime from a corporation, Democrat or Republican," El-Sayed said, referring to McMorrow previously accepting corporate PAC money in her state legislative campaigns despite pledging to not do so for her U.S. Senate campaign.

Stevens has accepted money from corporate political action committees and significant outside spending from the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, or AIPAC, the pro-Israel lobbying organization.

"The AIPAC issue is a wedge in current Democratic politics, and it's not going away," Dulio said, referencing Stevens' longtime support by the organization. "They are aligned on substance when it comes to Israel and the Middle East, there's no denying that."

I know this upsets and angers the US foreign policy establishment and Right wing Democrats, but the protesting students were absolutely right about Gaza. They were right and Hillary Clinton, Condoleezza Rice and Joe Biden’s entire foreign policy team were wrong. In fact, the majority of the Democratic Party has come around to recognizing the students were right, along with quite literally the rest of the world.

Chuck Schumer and Haley Stevens “blank check for arming the far Right government of Israel” position is a minority position in the Democratic Party and in the country at large and Chuck Schumer’s and Haley Steven’s “blank check for arming the far Right government of Israel” has supported and enabled Israel attacking five different countries ( and that’s five excluding Gaza) since October 7th. Think it might be time to rein that shit in? Or are we going to let then grab Lebanon while opposing Putin grabbing Ukraine? Absolutely incoherent. This is why young people think the Democratic Party is full of shit – because we are. We can’t sanctimoniously declare our allegiance to international law and norms regarding Putin and then throw that all out the window regarding Netanyahu.

I get back to the States at the end of the month. When I return I will immediately sign up to volunteer for El-Sayed and donate. Because the furthest Right, most hawkish 30% of the Democratic Party who were dead wrong about Gaza, who denied and denied and denied while the tens of thousands of bodies of children stacked up and tens of credible reports of the rape and torture of Palestinian prisoners came in, the 30% who sneered and then cheered as American students were smeared and imprisoned for pro Palestinian political speech, that 30% should no longer be in charge of foreign policy. It’s the same Democrats who supported the invasion and occupation of Iraq. They were never held accountable for that disaster, and they shouldn’t be rewarded for being wrong again on a major foreign policy issue.
