Big Old Jet Airliner
Trump takes a big old bribe
Totally normal and legal:
In what may be the most valuable gift ever extended to the United States from a foreign government, the Trump administration is preparing to accept a super luxury Boeing 747-8 jumbo jet from the royal family of Qatar -- a gift that is to be available for use by President Donald Trump as the new Air Force One until shortly before he leaves office, at which time ownership of the plane will be transferred to the Trump presidential library foundation, sources familiar with the proposed arrangement told ABC News.
The gift is expected to be announced next week, when Trump visits Qatar on the first foreign trip of his second term, according to sources familiar with the plans.
Trump toured the plane, which is so opulently configured it is known as "a flying palace," while it was parked at the West Palm Beach International Airport in February.
This is totally illegal, despite the usual “smart lawyering” by Trump’s lawyers (by which I mean transparently flimsy excuse making). The plane is going to be transferred to the DoD, where it will be modified to military specs, and then transferred to the Trump Library at the end of Trump’s term. A bribe is a bribe no matter whether it comes in the form of cash in a paper bag or a $400 million 747.
I hope this will finally dispel the fiction that the US is somehow less corrupt than the countries we disdain. The reason I hope this isn’t because recognizing that we have a problem to solve is the first step towards solving the problem. Some of our party members also need to get right with God on this one:
[me stuffing gold bars into my suit jacket] listen, all of you who want to eject me from the party for "corruption" and "bribery" just want to shrink the tent!

I’ll close with the thumbnail pic for this post: Claudia Sheinbaum flying commercial to the G20 summit.
