As mentioned in the comments yesterday, DHS executed a search warrant at Rep Ilhan Omar’s House, for bullshit reasons:

❝

“Today in the Washington DC area, Homeland Security Investigations executed a judicially authorized search warrant secured by the Department of Justice. This enforcement action is part of an ongoing federal criminal investigation,” a DoJ spokesperson said.

It was unclear what the nature of the warrant was. Omar’s office did not respond to a request for comment, and the White House and Department of Homeland Security referred comment to DoJ. Citing two unnamed sources “close to the investigation”, Fox News reported that the search was related to a criminal fraud investigation concerning Omar’s immigration paperwork, which her late father filled out when she was a child.

Shortly after this story dropped, I got this text:

For some reason, Democratic fundraisers think my wife is potential Democratic donor, and they’re texting her relentlessly on our old home phone number (which I ported to a secondary SIM in my phone). My fingers are worn out replying “STOP”.

This text bummed me out. I get it that Omar has to raise money to defend herself. But my attitude is shaped by getting at least a hundred or more texts asking for money from Democrats with whom I have no relationship: they aren’t from New York (the area code for our old phone number), I’ve never given them money, and in many cases I have no idea who they are. I’m guessing Omar will raise a lot of money with this text, but at what cost?

Perhaps I’m wrong. Maybe she’s right to use a fundraiser who will take a huge cut of whatever they raise, so she can defend herself. But I do know that I was not happy to get that text.
