Scott sent this in and I wanted to make a general comment:

All good on Magyar’s point, but apparently, like Trump, Orbán has filled the Hungarian government with his toadies. They will be hard to dislodge, I’m assuming, though I know very little about Hungary. So it will be interesting to see whether Magyar cleans out the government, or if he has a Biden-like term, doing some good, but ultimately not getting rid of the right-wing residue.

Here are the two guideposts I’ll use to understand whether Democrats even stand a chance of enacting the kind of meaningful change that will hopefully lead to some voter satisfaction:

  1. Eliminating the filibuster as soon as Democrats have a majority in the Senate.

  2. Coming into office on January 21, 2029 with government clean-up plan that is clear, crisp, actionable and where clever folks have anticipated and planned around the inevitable roadblocks that Republicans are going to throw in its way.

I can’t say I’m overly optimistic on either of those points, but I also think the Democratic leadership greatly underestimates the appetite for both of those things from the Democratic base. Platner, for example, is basically running away with the Maine Senate primary simply because he’s not-a-Schumer-candidate.

While we’re witnessing yet another Trump goofball meltdown, I’ll also point out that chances are that Trump will serve out his term. So expect more pissing matches with the Pope as well as Trump-as-Jesus imagery, in addition to dumb wars.
